Warm up with fun at the Winter Carnival
Warm up with fun at the Winter Carnival
| Events |
Mark your calendar – one of the community’s most anticipated winter events is just around the corner. We’re in a deep freeze now, but why not celebrate a true Canadian winter by taking part in the fourth annual Quesnel Winter Carnival? This celebration of all things winter takes place at the West Fraser Timber Park on Saturday February 4 starting at 1:00pm.
The Winter Carnival encourages active living through cold-weather sports. And there’s a wide variety of sports for you to try this year. Come out and cross-country ski, snowshoe, toboggan, or skate – you can even borrow equipment if you don’t have your own. A new event this year is frisbee golf – take your best shot at coming in under par in this unique take on a centuries-old favourite.
If you’re looking for an activity to keep the children busy during this cold snap, get them working on their headwear accessories so they can take part in the annual Crazy Toque contest. Make your own, grab your favourite from home, or buy one. Limited quantities will be for sale at the event. Whether you’re crafty or just looking for a fun activity, the sky's the limit with crazy toque designs.
The fun-filled day, which will also include crafts, music and more, wraps up with fireworks at 5:30pm.
To help everyone join the fun that day, Quesnel Transit buses will stop outside West Fraser Timber Park. For more information, call 250-992-8200, visit www.quesnel.ca, or check out the Quesnel Winter Carnival page on facebook at www.facebook.com/activeliving.quesnel
