RCMPshield_crest2On Tuesday, May 1st, 2012, units from the Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services Unit were performing traffic enforcement duties on Highway #16, near Shelley Road, east of Prince George.  

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Constable Dickson was completing his dealings with a violator, when he was approached by a westbound motorist and advised the passenger in the vehicle had sustained a severe cut to his left thigh from a chain saw incident. The driver of the vehicle requested a police escort to the University Hospital of Northern BC.  The police never escort vehicles in these circumstances due to safety concerns and liabilities.  There are a number of considerations which complicate escort type situations.

Prince George Fire Crews and the RCMP continue to maintain a perimeter on River Road after an explosion occurred at the Lakeland Sawmill in Prince George B.C.

On April 23, 2012 at approximately 9:38 PM the Prince George Fire Department were called to a report of an explosion at the Lakeland Sawmills located on River Road in Prince George B.C.  Emergency crews, BC Ambulance and Prince George RCMP attended the scene to find the Sawmill engulfed in flames.

PostHeaderIcon Linear accelerators arrive at BC Cancer Agency Centre North

The first of two linear accelerators arrived at the BC Cancer Agency Centre for the North, as part of a shipment containing more than 30 separate pieces.

The machines will be used to deliver radiation therapy in cancer treatment, ushering in new services for Northern BC residents. The cancer centre will open in Prince George in late 2012.

PostHeaderIcon Charges laid as arson victim passes away

RCMPshield_crest2The Prince George RCMP are confirming that the 85 year old victim of the January 7th early morning residential fire on Merritt Road, has passed away as a result of his injuries. 

Investigators have determined that the fire was an arson. 

A charge of Arson has been approved against Frank William Marion, a 49 year old tenant of the residence.  Investigators will be recommending further charges as a result of the victim's passing.

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the snowmobile operator who died in an avalanche northeast of Prince George on November 13, 2011. 

The deceased is Dallas Shane Mayert, aged 40, of Prince George.

PostHeaderIcon One person missing after avalanche near Prince George

On November 13, 2011 at approximately 2:30 pm, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a missing snowmobiler, following an avalanche northeast of Prince George, BC. Two adult male Prince George residents were riding in the Torpy Mountain Recreation area, when an avalanche occurred.  One rider was able to avoid the avalanche, however, his partner was unaccounted for.  

RCMP contacted the Provincial Emergency Program, who activated Search & Rescue.  The sledders were approximately 30 to 40 km from where they off loaded their snowmobiles.  Due to concerns with the distance, the weather, daylight and the snow pack in the area, Search & Rescue personnel were unable to begin the search on Sunday.

102711_tylerfetterlyOn October 19th, 2011, the Prince George RCMP issued a media release requesting to speak to Tyler Eugene Fetterly, a 26 year old Prince George man. Fetterly is now believed to be missing.

Since the initial media release, significant efforts have been made by friends, family and police tolocate Tyler, but have been unsuccessful. Tyler was last seen in Prince George in early October.

Tyler Eugene Fetterly is described as a Caucasian male, 178 cm (5’10”), 73 kg (161 lbs), with blue eyes and a bald head or short brown hair.

Anyone that may know his where-a-bouts, are requested to contact the Prince George RCMP at (250)561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS (8477), online a twww.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca, or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES using keyword "pgtips".

The Prince George RCMP are happy to report that Joyce Shirley SEARS has been located safe.

On September 27th, 2011, the Prince George RCMP received a request to locate a Prince Georgesenior. The Prince George RCMP requested the public’s help in locating her.

Joyce, 81 years old, departed her residence in Prince George on Tuesday September 27th, 2011, enroute to Sicamous, BC to visit family. She departed in her personal vehicle and was traveling alone.

On the evening of September 28th, Joyce arrived in Sicamous safely. Family has been notified.

The Prince George RCMP would like to thank the public and the media for their help in this investigation.

PostHeaderIcon RCMP seek publics assistance locating missing travelers

missing couple** Update: 23-Sept-11 at 3:10pm

Prince George RCMP have confirmed that Thomas and Marie Willams have been located safe and sound in the south Cariboo region of BC.

According to 100 Mile House RCMP, a passer-by recognized the motor home that the couple were traveling in. The good Samaritan stopped and advised the couple that they were reported missing and that they should go to the local detachment. The couple did just that; at approximately 2:00pm, Thomas and Marie attended the 100 Mile House detachment in good health.
